MORE THAN A WALK THROUGH THE DARK

WHAT IS BRECKONING?

Breckoning is an interactive ghost tour through historic downtown Breckenridge, Colorado, created by Breckenridge Ghost Guides.

Unlike a traditional walking tour, Breckoning doesn’t follow the same story every night. At key moments, your guide presents clues connected to different locations, stories and chapters of Breckenridge’s haunted history.

Your group chooses what happens next.

Along the way, you’ll explore Breckenridge’s mining history, colorful characters, historic buildings, unexplained events and local legends.

Some stories are documented history. Others have been passed down through generations. And some sit somewhere uncomfortably in between.

We think that’s where things get interesting.

YOU AREN’T SIMPLY FOLLOWING A GHOST TOUR.
YOU’RE HELPING INVESTIGATE ONE.

HOW DOES AN INTERACTIVE GHOST TOUR WORK?

Most ghost tours decide where you’re going before you arrive. Breckoning gives your group a say in what happens next.

Throughout the tour, your guide presents choices inspired by Breckenridge’s history, haunted locations and mysterious stories. Your group votes on which clue or path to follow.

What happens next? That’s up to you.

STEP 1

GET THE CLUES

Your guide presents two possibilities connected to Breckenridge’s history, hauntings and local legends.

STEP 2

MAKE YOUR CHOICE

The group votes on which lead to follow. Majority rules. The ghosts have no known voting rights.

STEP 3

FOLLOW THE STORY

Your choice determines which stop and story come next as the adventure unfolds.

SAME BRECKENRIDGE. DIFFERENT NIGHT. DIFFERENT STORY.

Your choices make every Breckoning a little different. Even we don’t know exactly how your night will unfold.

THE STORIES BEHIND THE SPIRITS

REAL BRECKENRIDGE HISTORY. LEGENDARY HAUNTINGS.

Breckenridge was a mining town long before it became one of Colorado’s best-known mountain destinations. Gold discoveries brought prospectors to the area in 1859. The settlement that followed grew into a bustling community of miners, merchants, saloons, hotels and colorful characters.

More than a century and a half later, much of that history is still visible throughout downtown Breckenridge. Historic homes, commercial buildings and mining landmarks remain part of the community.

Then there are the stories that are harder to explain.

For generations, people have shared tales of unexplained footsteps, mysterious figures and strange sounds throughout Breckenridge. Some are well-known local legends. Others are connected to specific historic locations.

Breckoning brings those two worlds together: documented Breckenridge history and the haunted legends that refuse to stay buried.

THE HISTORY IS REAL.
THE HAUNTINGS? WE’LL LET YOU DECIDE.

WANT TO INVESTIGATE FOR YOURSELF?

ADD AN EMF READER TO YOUR ADVENTURE

Want to do more than listen for things that go bump in the night? Choose an Adult + EMF Reader ticket when booking your Breckoning experience and do a little investigating of your own.

EMF readers measure changes in electromagnetic fields. Paranormal investigators sometimes use them while exploring reportedly haunted locations, although unusual readings can have perfectly normal explanations.

During the tour, carry your reader and watch for changes along the way. Mysterious activity? Electrical interference? Breckenridge being Breckenridge? You decide.

INVESTIGATE ALONG THE WAY
